Monday's In-class Assignment

Write for College:

As a class, we will read pages 145-146.

Take notes on the following pages and post them on your blog. Each explanatory section is followed by an example. What are the defining qualities of each type of personal writing? What do they have in common? What makes them different?

  • "Writing a Personal Reminiscence" p.147-149
  • "Writing a Personal Essay" p. 152-154
  • "Writing an Essay of Experience" p. 157-159

Class discussion.

Classify the questions from the "All about me..." assignment. Which of these prompts could be used as a topic for each type of personal writing?

Due tomorrow: Choose one of your "All about me..." answers for each category of personal writing. Write a paragraph for each that could potentially develop into a full essay. These three mini-essays are due tomorrow.
